One of the many impacts of the Covid Pandemic on Central Florida has been the increase in meals provided to Seniors.  Charlotte McHenry, CEO & President of the Senior Connection Center (SCC), reported in a presentation to the Rath monthly general meeting, pointed out that Polk County received $2.5 million from Covid relief bills, and most of that went to feed Seniors.  Prior to the pandemic, Seniors in Polk County received about 70,000 meals per month, and now that number is over 180,000.

The SCC is the Area Agency on Aging and Aging & Disability Resource Center for the five county areas of Hillsborough, Manatee, Polk, Highlands & Hardee Counties.
